Until July 2010, when her eyesight deteriorated, my mother wrote 1000s of chatty letters during her lifetime - to her parents, in-laws, sisters, children, friends. Tho she started to write to me on a regular basis in Sept '68 when I began my freshman year at SUNY-Buffalo, it wasn't until 10 years later that I decided to hold onto them. (Very inconsistently at first, to which the big gaps between dates attest.) These are the letters transcribed, annotated, and otherwise highlighted here.

Thanks you for a wonderful visit. We enjoyed ourselves so much, esp. getting acquainted with Andy - loving him, kissing him, holding him, etc. etc. He is so sweet. We look forward to your visit.
Dale got some good news: Blackstone Corp, Jamestown, has a special contract to build radiators for Chrysler (at the Chrysler Proving Grounds Ariz.) Dale was asked if he'd like to go out there as Blackstone wants 5-7 local mechanics to go out to Ariz. for a month (probably July) with all expenses paid plus their regular wage. Dale said yes so we'll wait to hear more about it. What a great experience for Dale. My paragraph is mixed up - sounds like they'll build them out there the way I wrote - more as details come.
It sounds like Dale will be going to Chrysler Proving Grounds Ariz. for a month. What he'll be doing I don't know & I don't think he does yet.
Reference to above paragraph written at the top of the page. [That sounds funny. Guess I'm tired.]
Got caught up on washing & did some dusting. It's good to be home & have a routine again, even if its watching the soaps! And the METS!!! Have to wait til Tues. nite for that.
Barb made 2 blouses & is working on a skirt.
Lar did a wonderful job on their kitchen. It is really nice. They used a fine line stripe wall paper. Hard to describe but nice. You'll see it in July.
We mentioned the baptism & Kim was pleased.
In the accumulation of mail was a note from Debbie, cousin Larry's wife, and a picture of Brian at 20 mo. He favors Larry. She wrote a nice note. I was surprised. I'll write a thank you. Fun to get a nice surprise like that.
The fellow got the soffit work on the house completed & it looks nice. Today he said he'll be here tomorrow to complete the garage. Needless to say, Dad was relieved he came and worked. He is inexpensive, in demand & does good work.
Dad washed the car today & Dale helped him put the other seat back in.
Tomorrow we get groceries & at 11:30 AM to go the Senior Group at church. A potluck & I made a salad tonite & have rye bread from the freezer. Hope to go to Jamestown later on. Go, Go, Go, that's me.
