We're sitting on the porch. We've had rain but it's nice now but still cloudy skies.
Made a spinach-ham-swiss cheese quiche tonite & it was good.
The Mets disappointed their fans, esp. Fri. nite. In the 9th with 2 out & leading they couldn't get the 3rd out & lost the game. Boo hoo! Not as bad beating today as the Yankees, tho. Maybe tomorrow! We've been watching tennis, tonite Penn State plays. More football tomorrow & Mon. nite the Giants the Bears.
Barb hasn't heard about the library job yet. Should by Mon. She'd like it.
Joyce O'Connor & I walk as often as possible. We like to walk to the Glade bridge - it's coming along well - & that is about 4 miles back & forth. Barbs finds it hard to believe I can walk that much at one time. I'm in good shape!!!!
The baby not coming works to our advantage as it gives Dad more time for painting. H e has the East & West sides completed & they look so nice. Everyone likes the color combination. The tan looks so much nicer with the lighter brown shakes. It won't take long to finish the front & back - if the rain holds off. We've had a lot lately. And of course the golf continues.
Kim is starting an exercise class Tues & Thurs AM & evenings in connection with another gal at her dance studio in the former Comet Market. It has been subdivided into several businesses.
Wed. nite a man is coming to give an estimate for vinyl soffet. Dad hasn't painted any of that as vinyl will cover it & make upkeep easier. He's saved a lot of money by painting himself & this will complete the job.
We've tried Domino's pizza and like it a lot.
Dale still doesn't have his license but it should be coming finally. His boss has made many phone calls to Harrisburg & others have helped. Today he got a letter & he has to send 25.00 & proof of insurance. He has limited driving privileges but can drive to work. Dad has been taking him in the A.M. So maybe it will be here before we leave.
And I prefer to leave on Tues. as on Mon. there are always things to do after Sun. & after church, etc. I don't feel like working Sun. aft. So expect us on the Wed, early aft. We plan to stop over at Michigan City, Ind.
Dad put in a new faucet in the sink in the downstairs bathroom (off the kitchen). It is nice - the old one was getting so hard to work. A bargain that didn't work out. It took him awhile as the work area is so small but he decided it was well worth the effort.
See you soon.
Until July 2010, when her eyesight deteriorated, my mother wrote 1000s of chatty letters during her lifetime - to her parents, in-laws, sisters, children, friends. Tho she started to write to me on a regular basis in Sept '68 when I began my freshman year at SUNY-Buffalo, it wasn't until 10 years later that I decided to hold onto them. (Very inconsistently at first, to which the big gaps between dates attest.) These are the letters transcribed, annotated, and otherwise highlighted here.
