Just finished breakfast dishes.  Dale is asleep on the davenport - he comes home, lies down, turns on TV & goes to sleep.  When I come down in the A.M., I turn off the T.V. & go about my duties & he sleeps on.  Barb stayed overnite at Johanson's to babysit Scott & won't be home til after 2 pm.  Then at 6 pm she has to baby sit.  Mary Ann Carey called for a friend & even tho Barb didn't want the job, she didn't want to refuse Mary Ann.  But she isn't too happy about it.

Carey's got new garage doors & Lar got the old ones.  He hopes to build a garage at camp & would use those doors.

Thanks for the pictures - they are great.  Barb got hers developed & was disappointed in the results but a few were good.  The one that Eddie posed for at camp, by the house, is adorable.  He's in his Pirate outfit.

This has been a hard week for Dad.  Has been feeling lightheaded & stiffness in his neck & shoulders.  Thurs. he spent most of the day in bed.  Thurs. nite was "showery" so Lar couldn't work so he trimmed the shrubbery by the house & it looks so nice.  Our tomatoes are starting to show color & the rain we are getting & got last nite should help as it's been so dry.

Had a nice letter from Millie & she has had a busy summer visiting Linda & Larry & his family.  She plans to do volunteer work this fall.  She is Dad's age.  She is a great grandmother - Allan's grandson married & had a son.  Jerry's brother & wife take her out so she keeps busy.

Did the boys "perform" at JoAnna's family reunion.  Too bad you didn't have your camcorder with you here.  We still talk about Eddie's "Ladies & Gentleman" - wonder where he picked that up.

Kim is ready for school when it starts Aug 29th.  She went to Erie last Thurs with a friend & found bargains for phy. ed. wear.  She also cleaned (housecleaned) the apt. last week.

It's cool so I should do some baking.  Aug has been cool & another cool spell is on the way.  I prefer it this way.

No baseball.  Wonder if it can be settled quickly - hope so.

It's a beautiful day, a big change from the hot, humid days this past week.  But Dale enjoyed them as he was on vacation this past week.  He slept in, worked on his car & sat in the sun.  He chose a good week - no rain until last nite.

For 3 weeks Barb baby sat 4 girls ages 3-8 & they are a handful.  What one can't think of, the others can.  Quite an experience.  Today she is sitting for the family she starts working for next Mon.  8-4.  The girl is in school all day so it's just the baby.  Time has changed to 4:30 or 5.

Today I'm making veg. beef soup for supper.  Also homemade rye bread & choc. cake (box) for dessert.

I'm back after taking time out for exercise on the stepper.  A 15 min workout.  Now I'm going to have coffee!

Kim is enjoying teaching very much, also the paycheck!  They want to visit her sister in Fla. & grandmother in Atlanta during the Christmas holidays.  But they want to spend Christmas here, so they're hoping they could get a Christmas aft. or early pm. flight to Fla.  If that works out I'd plan a turkey dinner for Christmas Eve & a special Christmas breakfast, & then the 4 of us would just snack the rest of the day.

K Mart is going to be so nice & large for this area.  As you enter to the left you see at the far side the shiny stainless of Little Caesar's pizza.  They have a few tables & chairs & they have other things -- like cookies & coffee.  Opposite that where the flower shop (plants, etc.) used to be are the TVs, radios, etc.  It should be completed by Nov.  Also the music store (tapes, cassettes, etc) has enlarged to take in the empty bldg by its side & it is so bright & beautiful.

Warren football is 3-2 this season after a few seasons of 30-1.   They beat an Erie team in the 1st game & last nite beat St. Mary's & both happened in the final seconds.  Exciting!

The Christmas Club check should be here in about a month or so & I'm making lists.  I'd like you to think about gift ideas for the boys.  I tho't a boy for each - something special they'd like & clothes.   So I need hints & sizes.  I'd appreciate hints for Mom & Dad, too!

We watched the Brewers beat Baltimore today.  Barb is rooting for them.  Now we're watching Atlanta & Houston.  Maybe it's the Pirates turn to win this year seeing Atlanta's catcher Olson was hurt.  Dale roots for the Pirates.

Talked to Gen last week & all is well there.  Gen, Ed & another couple are at Nantucket until Wed.  Ed & the other man are doing some carpentry work for a couple who live on the island.  It's a vacation for the gals. The couple are on vacation so Gen & Ed, etc. live in their home while they work.

All is well here.  I told you didn't I that Dan & family moved back to Utah.  He needs more training to pass to be a chiropractor in Utah so they were going to move back to Mich. again.  Stella & June had a meal already & waiting & they never showed up.  So Stella called Dan's father-in-law & was told they changed their mind as as Dan was driving a truck.  They never told Stella & she was ready for a meal for all of them.

We awoke to slippery roads and snow and school was cancelled.  So it is a good day to write letters and I just finished one to Gen.

Barb is up and off each a.m. and she is liking the babysitting.  She is also sitting for Lauri.  Twice this week.

We enjoyed the dinner-theater at Holy Trinity Church last Sat. nite.  They did a great job and all members.  Directed by the pastor's wife.  A good meal, also.

We are invited to Lar and Kim's tomorrow nite.  We will try our hand at the golf game on the computor and they will borrow the Wheel of Fortune so we can try that.  They say the games are so true, and fun to play.

Paul do you remember a Pederson in your high school class - according to Denise Johnson he was in your class and now is going with Nancy Bloom Davis.  He is in church with her.

I ordered some tapes from the Reader's Digest and they are good - from my earlier days so nice memories.

The end of March Larry will get the first interest payment from the estate and naturally he is looking forward to that.  They had the vacuum cleaner we bot when you were born, Paul, so they bot a new Hoover on sale.  His work on the room is coming along fine.  He hopes to get it finished as he will have a lot of extra outdoor work to do.  Is making plans for new shrubbery for the library.

At church Katherine [Peterson, church secretary since before we moved to Warren in 1957] retires in March and Cheryl (Mrs. Ron) Bloom will be the new secretary.  She will be a good one.  We didn't attend the annual meeting last Sun.  Went to church in Jamestown instead.  All went well from what we heard.  We have a choir director, now we need to find an organist.

I've been reading again and found a new detective authors - Emma Latham and I really enjoy her* books.  Have also reread a few favorites.  Don't remember everything so I enjoy reading them again.

We were able to walk 3 times this week.

Dale received a ring from work as a reward for his good service.  He doesn't wear it but if I remember it has the Chrysler emblem on it.  He is working on the car they took to Sorenson's.  Worked the past 2 nites til midnight.  He has this aft. off so assume he will work on it today.

Soon lunchtime so will send this off.
