Until July 2010, when her eyesight deteriorated, my mother wrote 1000s of chatty letters during her lifetime - to her parents, in-laws, sisters, children, friends. Tho she started to write to me on a regular basis in Sept '68 when I began my freshman year at SUNY-Buffalo, it wasn't until 10 years later that I decided to hold onto them. (Very inconsistently at first, to which the big gaps between dates attest.) These are the letters transcribed, annotated, and otherwise highlighted here.

We had a rainy, dark day & it made me lazy. But by late aft. I decided to get up off my butt & start supper. I made a chicken-spinach quiche & it was good.
Carey's moved on Fri. going to Paula's for the weekend & then to Fla. They are building a new home. He had told Lar they wouldn't be moving til after June 6th but evidently the new owners wouldn't give them an extra week. They had planned to have a sale this coming week.
Thanks for the pictures -- the flowers are so pretty & the back yard is so nice. You are lucky to have such a nice yard, esp. when you entertain.
The next 3 months church starts at 9:30 A.M. I like it as when I get home I can have a cup of coffee & read the Buff. paper. On the front porch if it ever decides to let us have June weather.
Fri. A.M., the 29th, Barb said she got up during the nite & noticed the living room TV was on. She came down & turned it off. I noticed the front door wasn't locked when I went for the A.M. paper. That scared Barb -- she was sure someone got in the house. Last nite I got up & noticed the L.R. TV was on -- went down & turned it off. We finally decided somehow the TV was set to turn it on during the nite. Barb was checking it out Thurs nite & must have hit the right button to have it go on. She checked & now it is off. A funny experience, tho.
Gen just called. The pastor & another member wanted to help & found a woman to come & be with Gen a few times a week & Gen doesn't like it. I said you should be glad to have someone help clean & so forth. She doesn't want anyone cleaning her house! I suppose stubbornness is one of the things that happens but she needs someone there to watch her. She has a kitten & doesn't like having to clean a litter box. Both Ed & Gen have been very private about their affairs. She's planing to take her driver's test again but she would never pass. Each time she calls I noticed it is harder for her to remember how to finish her sentence.
Wed. June 3rd
I always took to see who died & was shocked to see Bill Weldon, age 50, husband of Karen Yosten, died. I couldn't believe it. They have 3 grown children. I'm sure that scared Mike (can't remember his last name) Lar's friend & Bill played cards with Mike & Mike's heart is in bad shape. It wouldn't have been such a shock if it had been Mike because Lar doesn't think he's too well. Now I remember M. Brindis. Dale said Bill had gotten a "beer belly".
The library had a computer session & Barb signed up for it. It was a one on one session & she learned about the web sight & Barb mentioned her brother was director of the Middleton Wi library so they looked the library up & made a copy I'm enclosing. It's a small world! The bottom 2 names didn't get on due to lack of space.
Because of the weather Barb hasn't been able to ride her bike, but Fri, Sat, and Sun look nice so she should be able to get her miles in.
The weather is annoying as it takes away my incentive to work. And the furnace keeps coming on & I turn it down. Lar will have to retime it. (Is that a word?) Maybe reset is better. Why learn if someone else will do it. I'm sure Dale could do it.
Dale thinks he'll be thru working on the Monte Carlo in a couple of days.
No one has moved into Carey's house yet. But someone has been in cleaning or something.
I better get a wiggle on & do something. I have dusted downstairs, got the garbage ready & I'll put in the garage after Barb leaves. They collect on Thurs.
I've been meaning to call Millie & see how things are & later I'm settled & watch TV I keep forgetting to call. Tonight for sure.
Later -- Just spent 1/2 hr. talking to Millie. John got this lady to come Tues. & Thurs. to give him a break. Gen doesn't want her & won't let her do anything. Millie said -- have her take you to the store or mall. Gen always has plenty of money but really can't shop. John would like to have Janet (the lady) make a meal for Gen so he wouldn't have to take her out but Gen likes John to take her out. And it is even hard for her to make herself a decent lunch.
She doesn't seem to realize she can't do things. And she doesn't seem to realize she has dementia. John confers with the Dr. & tells Gen nothing. She wishes now she had more children, mainly a daughter But daughters don't always stay in the area.
The Yankees are in Cincy & losing the game 6-2 6th inning. They lost the first game. I like it! The Mets are rained out for the 2nd nite. At least it is a rain delay tonite so far.
It's Gen's birthday June 13 & Linda comes that weekend & she & Millie will take Gen out for lunch. On Sat. they go back to Linda's & Millie will stay til Thurs. They plan to take in a play at a Summer Playhouse.
Thurs nite June 5
I had chicken & biscuits tonite & it was really good. Pecan pie for dessert.
Today is the day my mother was born in 1892. Also Millie's Larry's birthday.
No bicycling so far this week. Rain & cool weather. But we're suppose to see sun & 70 tomorrow. so that is nice as it is graduation from high school.
Tell Andy I think this is the Braves year to win it all. If they get to the World Series, I'll still root for the A.L. team as long as it's not the Yankees -- I'm hoping it will be the Seattle Mariner.

We got the necessary items for Lar's birthday dinner today. Yesterday we got flowers & this aft. Barb is planting pots. We chose pansies, petunias & dahlias plus allysum or however it is spelled . They are looking nice.
This A.M. I made pie crust & banana bread. Then my usual Tues. duties. We're having an easy supper -- pizza & salad. We are trying frozen Freschetta on Kim' recommendation. They had a pizza party & tried different froz. pizzas.
I wrote what we are getting for Lar's birthday: cherry beer but you can only get it in Erie & Kim's friend Nancy is going to Erie & will pick it up. I did find a Snow Baby soccer figure so he has a little gift to open with his special "50 year" birthday card.
Fri. nite we are going out to celebrate Mother's Day. I never like to go out on Mother's Day as it is usually so crowded. So I prefer Fri. & we will go to Fernwood -- just out of Warren toward Sheffield.
The children's part of the library looks so nice. Looking in you see a small arc of computers. I never go into that room so I just get a glimpse of it.
Scott was telling Barb he is making bombs. She cautioned him about talking about it in school as he could get in trouble. She doesn't think it is true as he talks a lot about his ideas. Lynn had a call from the school about his swearing on the school bus. Poor Lynn & she wants everything so perfect.
Sat. Kim is planning a party for Lar. Some of the couples they are with a lot.
I pressed Dale's birthday shirt & tan Dockers in case he wants to wear them Fri. nite. He usually wears good jeans when we go out. Now he has another pair he can wear.
I wonder -- I didn't find out what Lar wanted for his birthday dinner as I think he didn't tell me til Thurs. & by then your letter was set to mail on Fri. I'll report: turkey breast, sweet potatoes & apple pie. I wrote to Gen & usually my letters are similar --i.e. news -- so sometimes I don't know what I write to whom. I also wrote to Darla. I'm glad you aren't an English prof & grading my letters. At times they sound mixed up when I reread them.
Did I write I got another Country Cook Book & it has some good recipes. With all the cook books I have, menu planning should be easy but it isn't.
Next Tues. is the Bible Study at church & I bring rolls for coffee. Wed. at 1 pm I have a dentist applt & cleaning. My usual schedule will be upset & somethings won't get done.
What room will JoAnna want to paint next. Your bedroom color sounds nice. A good way to get a room housecleaned or spring cleaning done.
Your writing about your library work never is boring for me. I like to hear what is going on in your lives -- meaning the entire family.
Barb decided she needs more plants so we'll go for more.
Things are happening in Warren. Maybe it will wake up people to see that we need to move out of the rut the city is in & that improvements & jobs are needed. The commissioners are in the hot seat, esp. Hunter.
Mary Ann Carey had surgery on her back in Fla. They should be home any time now.
Larry & Mike were up in Buffalo a couple of weeks ago for Paula's husband's 40th birthday. Kim was invited but she didn't go. Mike & John (husband) became good friends as they were neighbors when they lived in Warren. John would spend time with Mike. I think sometimes Mary Ann & Jack come on too strong for John & he needed an escape.
The pizza was pretty good but rather spicy for my taste buds. Good crust.
Barb gave me a rose plant for Mother's Day. It will go in with the roses Lar planted years ago. They are pretty but don't last to pick for a vase. This one is a regular ever-blooming plant by Martha Stewart so it had better be good. I might buy a 2nd one myself. I like roses in a bud vase. Barb's next job is to hose off the porch & get the porch furniture down from the attic. Soon we should be able to sit out there & watch the cars go by.
I have to send my health insurance payment in each month by the 25th. I completely forgot Apr. so it was late. Now I put the envelopes I have addressed for each month by my church offering envelopes so I won't forget.

We're going grocery shopping when Barb gets home. She had to take care of Scott as he was sick. She should be home at 4:30. It's been a lazy day -- no work got done as it was Bible Study at church at 11 AM followed by a pot luck lunch. I never know what to bring & since I love bread pudding I made that & it went over great. Only a spoonful left & I finished it at home. They like it, I love it! No one else does at home.
Now supper is over & dishes put away.
I heard our library had money given to them & it had to be used for the building so that is why it was changed. Now they have 8 computers all installed. It is a nice looking entry. Wonder if they could put A.C. in -- if they did.
Don't know if you remember Albert Johnson. He left money to the church. They'll get interest twice a year but there is a catch. It can only be used for hymnals, books, choir robes (which are new) & the like. It's too bad they limit how it can be spent. He didn't have any heirs. I know he told Dad he intended to leave money to the church. Also Kane Luth . Home & the Salvation Army got some money.
Called Rose yesterday. She still doesn't know why Karen & Rick divorced. I would never reveal to hear what we've heard.
Dale goes to Rochester Wed. nite for Thurs school. 2 go together & I like that as then they leave as soon as possibly & eat on the way. I'll probably just have a frozen dinner.
Fri. Barb & I plan to go to Jamestown. We'll look for a Met cap for Eddie. When I called last Sun. Eddie said he'd still like one & he didn't get anything here in Warren.
Wed the 24th
This AM's paper announced the closing of D&K over town. I liked to stop in there but with the Dollar Store across from BiLo & Big Lots at the Mall I guess they lost their business.
I got all my jobs done for today's schedule but I plan to start dinner rolls so I don't have to make them tomorrow. With Dale on the way to Rochester I'll have time to get them finished. Tomorrow A.M. I plan to make a pecan pie but prefer to have the rolls in the freezer. We're having oven baked fish tomorrow when Lar, Kim & Torey come over.
K.C. is playing Detroit for ESPN Wed. baseball. Not very interesting to watch. It was more interesting when George Brett was in the booth talking with the announcers.
I just set my rolls. In an hour or so they will be set to form & then bake. Fresh rolls for supper.
The Lutheran came today & I usually read it cover to cover & I have a good start on the articles.
I have Buffalo channel 2 on telling about Drew Bledsoe's visit as the new QB. It was quite a celebration & I'm sure D. B. feels good about it. Also the day was gorgeous weatherwise. Nothing could have been better.
Thurs A.M.
I planned to sleep til 7 A.M. but Dale forgot to turn off his alarm at 5:30. I did go back to sleep until 6:50 A.M. Worked til 9 A.M. & now I'm taking it easy & watching Murder She Wrote. My pecan pie smells so good.
Was sorry to hear about Lila's death even tho I know it is for the best. When Gen died I sent a memorial gift of money to Our Savior's Church. I'm not sure if Lila stayed with their original church or if she went with Gen so I'll send a memorial to Charles.
Every Thurs. the Warren paper has a page of jokes & they had several good ones today & I enjoyed several hearty laughs all by myself. Is the Spotlite section included in your edition when it arrives.
I agree you need a new drier. When we used it last summer it took forever for a load to dry.
Pretty nice, even if it takes more of your time, to be appointed to the Task Force on Pub. Lib. Funding & Legislation. Nice to be able to add to your resume.
Scott has been sick this week with the flu, diarrhea, etc. so Barb has more hours working for Lynn. Means more money. Has to help him with his homework. They had their big sale last Sat. & it went very well. Scott was sad tho, saying he'd never be able to ride in one of their semi-trucks again.
A bird is building a nest in the fir trees Lar planted in the back yard. I can see them darting in & out.

I'll start a letter as I have ideas (for a letter). Yesterday after getting my hair done, I picked up stamps at the P.O. Barb had mentioned how nice the library is, so I decided to look for myself. The adult area is just about finished & it looks so nice. A new return & check out area. You'll have to stop in & get a look for yourselves. The children's area is now being fixed up. I didn't hear of any fund raisers so maybe some people left the library funds for the project. I have to get used to the new area & books. I usually knew where to look. Of course they are in alphabetical order but it's still new. I got 1 book & I knew what would happen -- constant reading. Started in at home, when we drove to Jamestown, when we got home & I couldn't read anymore -- bedtime. Finished it this A.M. The Switch by Sandra Brown. It was fun to be reading again. I put the puzzle away unfinished. Got tired of looking at it & getting nowhere. I'll save it for next fall. Book was great.
It was a nice drive because the weather was so nice -- in the 60s. We went to Davidson's for fish & it was just as good as I remembered.
When Kim was at BiLo's she met a friend & they talked. The friend talked about her son & his friend Evan & their love of the computer. Kim asked if she meant Evan Setili & that started the mother talking. What Evan told her son about Karen. The guy Karen is with is into drugs & beats Karen up. She told this to Rick when she was here to sign divorce papers. Karen wants Evan with her but Rick told him the situation & doesn't want him with Karen. Like I said Evan is into computers & Rick bot him a new one. Probably to bribe him & keep him here. He & Karen are very close. I can't understand what has gotten into Karen. Rick is a great guy.
Enjoyed your letter. That was something concerning the Sun Prairie Library situation. Bet the gov's face was red when he made that "gaff". Enjoyed "The Bookworm".
Saw a robin this A.M.
Sun the 10th
Today the pastor was the chaplain at the Luth. Home in Kane. He is very good. It is nice to hear different approaches in sermons. I always read the lessons at home & wonder how they'll use the Gospel in their sermons.
When I see articles on libraries I think of you. Buff. paper has one today I'll enclose for you to read. When walking to church, I was glad I didn't have to cross the bridge. It was & is a cold, blowing day.
Too bad you aren't eating lunch. I thought we might go over town for lunch -- can't remember the name but it's on 2nd Ave. They say their pies are the best! Barb thinks it's too smoky as there is no division & not that large. There is also a new coffee shop in the same area. Kim likes it. Patty Welsh Phillips' son Chipper & his wife started it.
Mon A.M. I'll bring this to a close & maybe get ambition & mail it at 5th Av. mail box. Barb & Kim don't agree with your thoughts about "M.J." Love to all & see you soon.

I'm on the front porch again - supper & duties are completed. Later I'll watch the Mets play in Atlanta. Am looking forward to the All Star game.
Finally got to the dentist this past week. Have to go once more to fix an old filling. The one who cleaned my teeth said my gums are in very good shape for someone my age -- meaning an old lady! Kept putting off calling for an appt, then my leg bothered me so it added up to 2 years since my last visit.
Barb has startedscrappe - how do you spell it - to scrape the3 wood by the windows on the porch prior to painting. She got the pain today. Hopes to complete the job by your visit.
Today I got my hair done at 12:30. Afterwards I went to the bank for my monthly needs, got Dad a pair of slippers & went into D&K, a favorite place to look at "Stuff". It's in the old Murphy store now & much brighter.
We're going to Lar & Kim's on Sun - about 4:30 for a cook out. That will be fun. Hope Dad will be willing to stay awhile.
Usually we get groceries Fri. nite. But Dale said Barb could bring the van up at 5 pm for an oil change. The stores are opened tomorrow so while others are at the parade we'll to go the Mall & grocery store. Will be less crowded. Parades were fun when you kids were little. Now it's a different story. In today's paper it pictured chairs already in place for the parade. Nothing like being an early bird. Did you renew your subscription - if so, you know what I'm talking about.
Your letter came today - talk about busy people. Seems like your days aren't long enough.
The other nite when I was washing dishes, I noticed someone was in Dale's car - but I tho't Dale was working on something. A few minutes later I see Dad getting out of the car, so I went out. He wanted to know where the keys were. Told him it was Dale's car & besides he doesn't have a license anymore & doesn't drive. He didn't believe me & got upset with me. Doesn't like it that I take things from him!
Barb spent 5 hours (2 1/2 hours each) weeding at the library. The 2 parts by the parking lot. Her civic contribution. Wonder if the new director is sorry he ever got into this mess.

We got your letter yesterday. Always interesting reading.
I'm watching tennis (men's) on T.V. No American made the finals.
Dale enjoyed his 3 days in Rochester. They had a test before they started on the studies & one when it was over. Dale got all the answers correct. He drives a Shults car & naturally wouldn't leave his car 3 days at the Mall. When he returned their car, he saw lights - went in & no one was there. Lights on, radio on & some machine not turned off. And the place a mess. So Dale shut the place up & locked the doors. Those are expensive tools they work with. I'm sure he will be cleaning up the place after work tonite. He said the course was very interesting & worthwhile. I told him I missed him & he said he missed home. It would be very lonesome for me if Barb & Dale weren't here. Last nite he mowed the lawn & edged along the sidewalk using Lar's edger. Lar was working at Carey's. Dale said it felt good to do physical work after sitting 3 days.
For 3 days in a row I've had to strip Dad's bed & wash it. Today even the blanket was wet. He doesn't know how it happens. He hates Depends & he doesn't like sleeping downstairs.
Have you been reading about the Wrrn. Library & the latest move. Must be tough on the new director. Wonder if he realized what he was getting into.
Interesting interleague baseball play this weekend. Wonder if they'll continue it. This time the Yankees play at the Mets & it's sold out. (The 2nd series.) Mets are at Boston this weekend. I'll finally see them Sun. nite on ESPN with Jon & Joe. Good announcers.
Buffalo Sabres didn't have it to get to the finals. Now it's Sat aft. & soon baseball on Fox TV.
I decided to have the Erie Sun. Times delivered. Don't have to pay for the 1st 4 Sun. as they are having a contest. Will bee billed from Erie quarterly.
It's cool so I've been baking this week. Made a coffee cake & raisin bars this A.M. Also a pie shell but I'm not sure how to fill it. Straw. are available at Hatch Patch. 3.75 qt. but they are full qts. Took a turkey out of the freezer so we'll have it tomorrow. Wanted the space in the freezer. I'm having coffee & a raisin bar now. And Mets vs. Boston is coming up. How lucky can I get!
Summer schedule starts tomorrow. Church starts at 9:30 A.M. And it will be cool so I can wear my new spring outfit. Pretty sweater (navy) & a navy print skirt. Got it from Penney's catalog. I did wear my new outfit.
Mon. A.M. This day hasn't had a good start. This is Dale's early week 7-4. He couldn't start his car as someone tried to steal it. They broke the starter. Luckily he had another one o& got it fixed & was only 1/2 hr. late. They left a knife & he didn't touch it. He called the police & they came & took the knife & checked things over.
I started washing & put clothes in the dryer & it made a big noise so something is wrong. Hope Dale can fix it. Also had started the next load of dark clothes. When they were finished there was the remains of kleenex. I didn't check the pockets thoroly. Now they're all on the line. It's a cool day, cloudy at time, but there is a breeze so I hope they'll all dry OK.
Saw Mary Ann C. & asked about Susan's baby. 4 lb & 7 oz. & it was a C section. It was a hard delivery so they decided to take it this way. But both are doing OK - baby gaining weight. Sara Elizabeth, a pretty name.
The Mets didn't fare so well last nite but 2 wins out of 3 isn't bad.
Have to add to Gen's letter. Her birthday is Sat so I'll have to get it off.
Is Eddie still on medication. You haven't mentioned how it is working, etc.

It's a cold rainy day & I had to walk to get my hair done. It's Dale's Sat. to work & Barb is taking care of Scott while Lynn & Bob are away for the weekend.
Kim talked to Ann Lesser this past week & Ann mentioned the new Lib. director is a man but she didn't say his name. Ann is thru the end of Apr. & the new dir. comes near the end of May.
I got a book The Cousins by Rona Jaffe but it didn't appeal to me so I didn't finish reading it. Now I'm reading The Daughter of Cain by Colin Dexter & I'm enjoying it.
Just wrote a note to Millie who will celebrate her 82nd birthday the 17th. Millie, Gen, & Edith (Ed's sister) usually go out to lunch at a nice place on birthdays.
Next Tues. I'll be able to watch the Mets on ESPN when they celebrate Jackie Robinson Day. Baseball has gotten off to a bad start in some areas with all this lousy weather we've been having. And the Cubs haven't won a game as of the 12th of Apr. The Mets are a little better!!! Not much.
Barb didn't look forward to this weekend with Scott. He is such a rascal.
Thanks for the letter & the pictures. What a wonderful week you had. Enjoyed the descriptions of it all & know it was an experience you'll all treasure for a long time. What a great experience for Andy & Eddie.
I'm watching "The Brian Piccolo Story" & it sure is a touching one. Because of that I'm not getting much written.
Dale had a nice birthday this past week. He managed to get home for a 6 pm dinner. Talk about someone dedicated to his job. That's about all he does now. His "summer" car is now being given some repair & a new paint job. Some of the floor was being eaten away & will be replaced. At first Dale wondered if it would be worth the money. But the fellow doing the work said he could do it so Dale agreed.
We are enjoying the Masters Golf on T.V. I'm hoping Tiger Woods goes all the way. What a beautiful golf course.
Soon time for lunch. Barb & Scott just came by. Will finish later.
Barb said Scott went to be at 9:30 pm and slept thru til 6:30 am. This A.M. she took Marisa to her cousin's & she'll sleep overnite. So Barb just has Scott. She'll be home Sun. aft.
Oh yes, Paula Carey called Fri. to let me know she'll want the house key between 7-8 pm Sun. nite. She's coming alone, why I don't know, except perhaps he hasn't taken his Pa. law exam. She starts a new job Mon. A.M. at one of the banks.
Barb & Scott just stopped again. They went to the Mall to break up the monotony.
Even on Sat. Dale doesn't get home too early & then he's gone to Seaman's to look for car parts. It's also different with Barb gone & it would be pretty lonesome if we were alone. So I'm glad Barb & Dale are home with us.
At 2:15 T.B.S comes on with Atlanta vs. Chicago. I can't stand the Atl. announcers but I'll tone down the audio. Then golf at 3:30 & that is interesting. It's time for Chic. to win its first game. Hope the weather is O.K.
I'm written out. Things are pretty good with Dad.
P.S. For Andy & Eddie Cady's store over town sells the Beanie Babies. They had some this week & sold out fast. Next time I'll try to get over & get one for each of you. Any special one you'd like. Tell your Dad & he can write it in a letter or you can tell me when we talk on the telephone. Love you, Grandma.

Enjoyed reading your last letter received Feb. 6. With our library some say their problem is that they have no overall plans for the future. Don't think Ann Lesser was that good a lib. director - she just let things go along - altho there was the addition ion her time. Nothing has been said about a successor.
When Taury sees Dale in his work uniform, he barks at him & will have nothing to do with him. It's so funny. Tonite the 7th Lar & some of the "guys" are going to a soccer game in Buffalo so Kim will be coming over here. The game will be in the new arena & it looks like a beautiful place - from the Buffalo paper. He can tell us all about it.
Barb has had a heavy flow again & cramps for a couple of days. So she saw the Dr again ready to have an operation. But they are trying something else first. Today she will get a birth control shot that should stop her periods. I hope it will help.
Did you know Charles Cataldo? He was 46 - his death notice is in today's paper.
It's breakfast time & Dale has gone to work & Dad should be down anytime. So I'll sign off & wish you a romantic Valentine!

Late nite Ruth called to tell us that Stella is moving to the Augustana Retirement home in Mpls. She'll have a 1 bed apt on the 6th floor. She'll be happier there as she has friends living there. Also I have a friend who lives there. Donald is improving. Today Ruth is will be going to the P. A. Peterson home in Rkfd. It was getting to be too much for Ruth. The daughters (Ruth) didn't approve - Mimi offered to take her but they aren't home to care for her nor realize the extent of care needed. There are 6 people from her church there so she'll know people. It's been a hard experience for Ruth - I agree with her decision.
Lynn got a new, larger freezer for her home. The old one is a small one. Knowing Kim would like to get a freezer, Barb asked Lynn about it. Result: Kim gets to buy it for 75.00.
I've been cleaning out drawers while watching T.V. Nice to have things in order again.
Holder's house is for sale, so we'll be getting more new neighbors on the St.
Hope to remember to enclose an article from the paper on our library & it's monetary problems. The County commissioners & School Board are all having money problems. Teacher's are still hoping for a contract that was due last July 1.
Now it's Fri. the last day of
Got your letter today. Very interesting reading. There's been a lot of T.V. & in the papers about Star Wars. Your skating sounded like fun - good family sport.
Am enclosing a recipe for C. C. cookies with oatmeal! It's easy & delicious.
We had fish sandwiches for supper. Dale just came home & will have the same. He surprised me. French fries & a milkshake.
We'll get this ready to mail tomorrow. I get a hair trim tomorrow & really need it.

Our lovely weather continues -- but more humidity for Sun & Mon. Perfect drying weather.
Wonder how Lar & Kim, esp. Kim, are enjoying hot, showery Fla. Taury, too.
The Forge got a 17 million contract from the Air Force so that will keep them going for 2 more years. Struthers, on the other hand, just has a skeleton crew.
Dale has been catching up on his sleep this vacation week. So I do my dusting *quiet work) early; at 10 AM I watch reruns of Matlock & enjoy them so much; then at 11 I finish my noisy work -- vacuuming.
We went out for breakfast - Perkins for Belgium waffles & they are delicious. It was busy.
Lost my library card but got a new one for 95 cents. Worth every penny. Have found good books lately but none of the late one by Paretsky, Grisham, or the other female who starts with G. I also lost my list of authors I had in an address book with my card.
Barb finally got the frame to hold the futon mattress. She also got a new bedspread & a round table with cloth matching the bedspread. Looks nice.
Gen called last nite. They enjoyed the Sweden trip to mulch. Edith did, too. They've been busy keeping up the outside. Ed still does carpentry work - just finished building a deck for a friend. Tonite Ed's investment club meets at their home - wives also so she expects 16 & she has the meal. They picked blueberries & planning on making 3 pies. I hope to get some to make jam.
The library isn't keeping up the shrubbery beds & it bothered Barb so she volunteered to weed & has been busy doing weeding evenings. Lar will mulch it & that should help keep weeds out. T hey have someone that mows but he isn't very ambitious. Don't suppose they pay much. The 1st week of Aug. they'll be closed for vacation.
In Aug. Kim will have an intensive week of school to get credits toward her masters. School Board encourages that. 5 days, all day.
Lunch time & I've chattered enough.
We think of all of you a lot & we love you all -- heaps!
