Got your letter today & the pictures are good.  I like the 5 of us on the davenport.  The ones of the homes are beautiful.

I'm watching the bio of Stephen King on A&E & it is very interesting.

Barb & I went to Jamestown today but I couldn't find the shirt or hats the boys wanted.  Ron Dane for Andy & a Mets cap for Eddie.  I'll keep on looking but Western N.Y. is Buffalo country.  But I did find something I hope Andy will like.

I have the gifts all wrapped & ready to mail on Monday.  One is a birthday gift for Eddie.

We put our tree up -- Dale set i up last nite -- and we decorated it today.  It is beautiful.  Very full & well formed.  We also have the porch lit up so it is "Christmasy" around here.  Now I have to warp gifts for this part of the family.

Haven't done any baking yet.  I do have some of my Christmas things around but not completely finished.  Most of my Christmas cards are on the way except for the local cards & Gen & Millie.  Need to write a letter for their cards.

Dale's computer came earlier this week.  But he needs a desk and he is getting the telephone line ready.  There is a connection in my bedroom & he can work from there.

When we were in one store today, I heard someone say "Hi Mom".  It was Kim & her neighbor Lois checking out.  She will have her pkg. to Wi. ready to mail on Mon.

I've enjoyed Stephen King bio but don't think I'd like his books.

Did you notice the ad in the paper for the new Blair home by Lar & Kim's place.  Over $800,000.00.  I cut it out to send to Ed & Gen.  The description is fabulous.  Marble floors, etc.  Guess they reached too high but who will buy it?

On Mon. Barb will take me to the post office on her way to work.  I'll go to the library & get some books.  Maybe that's a bad idea as once I get into a book it is hard to put it down.  I'll have to tell myself "First things first".

Had a card from friends in Auburn.  They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Sept so that must have been one of Dad's last wedding before we left Auburn.  It was a wedding you knew would last.  It was a fine family with 5 children.  Real good members.  When we were in Auburn for an anniversary of the church, long, long ago, we were to the young couple's home along with her parents & siblings.  Her sister was married to a state rep. so they were into politics.  I'm sure they are retired also.  Nice to have memories.

I'll add a little more this Sun. (10th) evening.  Dinner is over, dishwasher going & I'm resting, watching TV, have the tree lights on so I'll finish this & mail it Mon. when I go to the post office.

Have my gifts wrapped & need to put bows on them but that will be tomorrow.  Can't put too many gifts under the tree as we need a space to water the tree.  They'll be around the L.R. & D.R.

I hope to try that Thumbprint cooky from Ladies Home Journal.  Got a recipe form Kim last Christmas.  It has peanut butter, butter & powdered sugar.  Form into balls & chill.  Th en you dip them in melted choc.  They are very good.  More like a candy & pretty on a cooky platter.  Maybe I"ll start on Wed.

On the front page of Warren's newspaper they show snapshots taken by Warrenites.  I was thinking the one of the 5th Ave. bridge would be a good one to sen in.  I love the picture of Trey watching you cut the turkey & hoping for a taste.

Holder's house has been sold, Pat who bo't it a few years ago decided it was larger than she needed.  Haven't heard who the new neighbors will be.

Watching TV is taking over so I'll close with love to all.

We've had a couple of lovely days.  Yesterday Kim & I picked strawberries - I picked 6 qts.  Wally Johnson (Levina's bro.) picked on Tues & brot us 2 qts & I had bot a qt.  Today I made a batch of jam & might make another batch as I just got 6 jars.

Today our new neighbors moved in.  I met her Thurs nite 0 she was picking weeds & Torey was here & wandered over.  Kim knows them.  Dan Niezmic - he has a 6-figure job at Blairs.  A daughter who will be a senior & a younger son - can't gauge his age.  They lived outside town & the wife wanted to move to town - 10 miles to town got to be too much driving kids around.

Kim was talking to the gal in Johnson's house & she was telling about Mr. Carey.  He didn't make them feel welcomed.  Complained about the kids & used the F word while talking to them.  Paula & her husband are still there & she can't wait to get into her own place.  Guess the Careys argue a lot.

Now it's Tues. July 1.  Thurs. I get my hair done (earlier than usual - holiday) so can get this in the mail then.

Forgot to mention when writing about new neighbors that I met the gal who bot the Holder house.  She is divorced & her last name is Vavala.  She has a guy living with her.  The house will be painted this summer - she has had a lot done to it.

It's been a rainy day & it's cooler sitting on the porch, but nice.  Kim was mover this A.M.  They'll come for supper on the 4th.  Lar will work at camp & Kim will be at the parade.  She is on the board for ARC - they work with those who are less fortunate - they have having a float in the parade.  Nothing fancy but it's extra work & time for the group.

Mon. I did make a 2nd batch of jam.  It looks nice.  Tastes good.

Starting the 4th Barb will be off for a week & Lynn also plans to be at the lake the 1st week of Aug. so Barb will be off when the boys are here.

The 1st game between Yankees & Braves was an exciting one.  I stayed up til the end.  The Mets got creamed by Detroit.  Better luck tonite with Bobby Jones pitching.

Wed. nite.  Mets are no good in interleague play.  Braves had a great win today against the Yankees.

Have a great trip & enjoy the warm weather.

Had circle at church this aft & on the way home noticed that Conaway's old house is up for sale again.  The people haven't been here 2 years yet.  A surprise.

Holder's house has been sold but I don't know who bo't it.  They got ride of a pile of junk.  Guess Betty Jean wasn't a good housekeeper.

Keep forgetting to ask if Albert's Cindy is expecting yet.

The kitchen floor is going to be so nice.  Right now things are a mess as Lar can only work a few hours at a time.  But it will be well worth the upset.  It's a lighter floor & will make the room look lighter.  Now I want to get rid of the yellow wall paper on 2 sides of the kitchen.  Maybe a beige color with a touch of peach.  That will mean moving things again.  Have more cards to write.

Late nite Ruth called to tell us that Stella is moving to the Augustana Retirement home in Mpls.  She'll have a 1 bed apt on the 6th floor.  She'll be happier there as she has friends living there.  Also I have a friend who lives there.  Donald is improving.  Today Ruth is will be going to the P. A. Peterson home in Rkfd.  It was getting to be too much for Ruth.  The daughters (Ruth) didn't approve - Mimi offered to take her but they aren't home to care for her nor realize the extent of care needed.  There are 6 people from her church there so she'll know people.  It's been a hard experience for Ruth - I agree with her decision.

Lynn got a new, larger freezer for her home.  The old one is a small one.  Knowing Kim would like to get a freezer, Barb asked Lynn about it.  Result:  Kim gets to buy it for 75.00.

I've been cleaning out drawers while watching T.V.  Nice to have things in order again.

Holder's house is for sale, so we'll be getting more new neighbors on the St.

Hope to remember to enclose an article from the paper on our library & it's monetary problems.  The County commissioners & School Board are all having money problems.  Teacher's are still hoping for a contract that was due last July 1.

Now it's Fri. the last day of March Jan.  I have the last day of Mar. on my mind + SPRING.  In time.

Got your letter today.  Very interesting reading.  There's been a lot of T.V. & in the papers about Star Wars.  Your skating sounded like fun - good family sport.

Am enclosing a recipe for C. C. cookies with oatmeal!  It's easy & delicious.

We had fish sandwiches for supper.  Dale just came home & will have the same.  He surprised me.  French fries & a milkshake.

We'll get this ready to mail tomorrow.  I get a hair trim tomorrow & really need it.
