Forgot a couple of things -- Jerry died Tues. the 19th & was buried on Fri. the 22nd.  Millie had been to see him & his breathing was so labored she prayed he wouldn't last the nite.  He'd had another stroke & there was no hope.

And the centerpiece from you is so beautiful - greens, chrysanthemums & Christmas decorations.  Very pretty.  It adds so much to our Christmas.

We are all pleased with our gifts - Dale likes all his clothes - he said he was set for another year.  Shultz's had their Christmas party last Sat. nite at Conewango Valley Country Club - Prime Rib.  Said it was good.  I made Danish rolls for him & everyone at work last Tues or Wed - had the flue - aches, etc.  Kim was also sick those days & was weak on Thurs when they left but she made it O.K.  We took them to J.town airport & will pick them up this coming Thurs. at 2 pm.  Weather was bad & Dad was glad he had front wheel drive.

I have my sweater on & it's nice.  Barb & I like our scarves, Andy.  Dad likes his discs & will enjoy them all year.  I like the Christmas one a lot.

Tonite Cincy plays Minn.  Barb hopes for a Cincy win so Green Bay will advance.  Dale hopes for a Minn. win as he is a Steeler fan.  I can't believe Barb's interest in sports.  A nice change.

We love the picture of Andy.  It is so good.  He looks older.  He's a sweetie.

The Christmas programs or services at church were excellent.  Sun A.M. they had the S.S. program.  Tom Morelli's wife was in charge of the program & she did a wonderful job.  They have 2 boys & a girl.  Christmas Eve was nice - the bell choir adds so much - we have a new choir/bell director & an organist & both are a great addition.

Tomorrow will be a busy day at the Mall & I hope to join the crowds looking for bargains.  I forgot to say that I had Marie Mathis knit Christmas stockings for Lar & Kim & put in an order for Barb & Dale for next Christmas.

We plan to go out to eat t his week as part of the Christmas celebration.  Barb said we should go to the Gristmill - we like that one.

Things are exciting in our world - we are seeing history in the making.  A new decade coming up & it will be interesting to see it develop.

Happy New Year & many, many thanks from all of us.

We are enjoying a fire in the fireplace.

We got here late Wed. aft. & altho we didn't drive in rain, it has rained Thurs & Fri.  However we awoke to a sunny day with blue skies & we just came back from a refreshing walk.  Soon we are going to a craft show in Wilbraham.

Thurs we went to the Enfield, Conn, Mall & other stores & I got a pretty lime colored sweater & Gen got a bright wine sweater.

Fri. we looked at skirts & we each found a print one we liked & both of us look nice in our new outfits.

Thurs. we were to Edith's for dinner & what a lovely home she has & the table looked so nice.

Yesterday we also went to see Jerry & it is sad to see him.  He can't talk so you can understand & we don't know if he recognized us.  He is in a nice clean home & Millie visits regularly, usually to feed him.  He loves to eat.

Last nite we were at Millie's & we had a delicious lamb dinner & I tho't of how you'd enjoy that dinner, Paul.

Gen & Ed couldn't go as there was a meeting at the Historical Soc & Gen is Pres & had to introduce the speaker.  She wanted us to go there but family came first.

Soon we are going out & tonite we go to Edna & Wally's for dinner.

Aunt Esther called & we have to see where she is.  She'll be with us Sun. when we celebrate Ed & Gen's 35th anniv.  We're going out to a Brunch at 2 pm.  Wally plans to pay the bill - we all wanted to share but he said no!

We leave Mon. after an enjoyable visit on the go most of the time - even in the rain.

This A.M. we went to a craft fair & it was a large one in a school.  I got a couple of little things.  Now it's after lunch & we're going out again to a Fabric Shop.  Dad will take a nap.

When we get back I'll have to do something with my hair - the rain was hard on it and get ready to go to Edna & Wally's.

We'll call on your birthday & hope to get some Christmas gift suggestions at that time!!!

Maybe I can write a Note & watch the Mets at the same time.

Joyce O'Connor & I started walking last nite.  Walked to the Glade bridge & back.  Took us a little over an hour.  This aft. we walked to the West End as far as Morrison St. & returned via 4th ave.  We're going to walk an hr. a day as much as possible.  We walk & talk.  Barb said she didn't think I had it in me to walk an hour.  She doesn't know her mother!

Lar & Kim had a nice trip - enjoyed seeing their new niece & visiting with her "Gram" in Atlanta.  When they got back Kim had an invitation to a baby shower & she asked Barb to knit a baby blanket.  So Barb is busy knitting all day & hopes to get it completed.  She thinks she will.   I'm glad to see her do something besides read & take notes.  Emulating Paul, I think!

Had a letter from Millie & Jerry is no better.  She plans to go back to work 3 days a week in Sept.  Too lonely being home.  Edna takes her food shopping (Jerry wouldn't let her drive) & her kids are good to help.  Larry, Debbie & baby some home each weekend.  Jerry only weighs 112 lbs.  Gen & Ed help out too.

Ruth called & she said Lila would need surgery - neck arteries are clogged.  Rudy's legs are bothering him.  Svea got up during the nite & didn't use her cane & slipped & hurt her bad arm.  Greg's (Joyce husband) father died & they were away & by the time they got to him & he could get to Rkfd (no cars to rent at the airport in Chicago) & to the church, the service was about over.;

Dad plans to paint the house.  But he decided he couldn't do the high spots & Dale said "I won't go up there" so we were in a quandry.  He decided to put a vinyl soffet up & will have to get someone to do it & they can't til Nov.  Last nite Lar said He'd do the hi spots for 12.00 an hr.  Dad said that's fine with me.  Don't think Lar expected that.  So Dad plans to start painting where he can reach & Lar will paint when he can.  We'll leave the shakes a brown & the lower part will be beige instead of yellow.  Front porch & some trim an off white.  Dad rented a hi pressure water spray to wash the house & it did a good job.  Dad has scraped touched up the bare spots.  So it's all set to paint.  It should look nice when completed.

Hope to hear some good news soon.
