My next letter will be written in July.  Times is too fast for me.

I'll start with Sun.  Our pastor, her husband, tiny baby Jason & Pastor Beth's mother were in church. The baby is just 8 lbs. and doing OK.  He is the size of a baby doll.  And we got bad news -- our organist was in the hospital & had to resign as organist.  It's a big loss ^& organists "are as scarce as hen's teeth" as the old saying goes.

Sun. nite we had an enjoyable time & good dinner at Nickel Inn.  They have hummingbird feeders outside the windows & you can see them feeding.  It still is a very popular place to eat.

I'm watching Nelson Eddy & Marie Jeannette MacDonald (where was my mind? on Nelson Eddy!!) on Turner Classic channel.  They've been showing "The Thin Man" series the past week.

We are enjoying the A.C. during this hot spell.  Suppose to be less humid for the 4th of July weekend.

Ray Forstrum (Youngsville) is preaching during the pastor's absence & I think he depends a lot on "the barrel" for his sermons (old ones).  It sounds like he doesn't prepare that much & repeats himself.  I suppose it's hard to say "no" & there aren't that many retired pastors to supply.  I'm glad Dad quit before he couldn't do a good job.

This A.M. I was out early watering the pots with flowers & the ones on the porch.  For 2 days Barb's been putting off picking strawberries.  It's 8:45 & she is still in bed.  She was going to get up early & go pick.  I don't know what the word "early" means to her.

Last Sun. she asked Dale what time church started.  She didn't think Dale was right wen he said 9:30 A.M.  You see I leave at 9:10 & that is way too early for Barb.  I like to be early as there are always others there ahead of me.  Guess I get that from my dad.  He always wanted to be early rather than late.

Barb had a film developed at BiLo in one hour & she was very pleased with the results.  She's also getting some more prints made.

Every day the weather channel shows showers, and we need rain, but nothing happens.  Finally Monday pm we got about 1/3 rain with a lot of wind.

John Harper's pic & article are in today's paper.  I'm sure you'll notice it.

I'm thru, except for getting the garbage ready for Thurs, so Ill take it easy.  I just cleaned the bathroom & towels are washing.

Fri. July 1

I'd better finish this & get it mailed.

Last nite Courtney was here for dinner.  Bert & 3 others went out to eat so Barb was responsible for Courtney.  She just finished 7th grade & has the teenage problems with her mother.  They are here for 1 more week.  Later Barb & Courtney went to the mall, Lar left for work & Kim walked Torey home.

Bon Ton is having a 4th of July sale & Kim went shopping for a dress for Lar's 35 anniv. of graduation.  It will be at the Country Club.  She found a 50.00 dress, with the sale coupon etc. it cost $14.95.  She got some decorations (from a 50% off table) for her newly painted kitchen.

Barb & I will go up this Aft.  Barb always says I don't need anything but she can't refuse a sale.  Recently she has bought, on sale, about 5 pr. capri pants.  Last week I saw a blouse I really liked but not in my size so I lost out.

At the Mall Kim saw one of her ex-students.  She tho't he'd never leave Sheffield.  But he joined the Army & soon will go to Iraq for a year.  She said he looked so good & was nice to talk to.  She welcomed the change.

Barb picked 7 qt. strawberries & said it was easy picking.  Had strawberry shortcake last nite, chicken from BiLo (already cooked), potato salad & beans from the garden.  Strawberry & watermelon salad.  Easy & delicious.

Sheila had the start of a tooth implant so isn't working today.  I got mixed up -- didn't realize the appt. was for Thurs. & I missed it.  So I have to wash my hair myself.  I used to do it so I'll hope for the best.

I love Turner Classic Movies.  I really enjoy watching them.

Don't work too hard!  Enjoy your party.

We've been watching the U.S. Open at Pinehurst Golf Course in N. Carolina.  It is a hard course with not many under par.  It's fun to watch.  A couple from our church & their son are there.  The son is carrying the names of certain players & the father has some volunteer job.  What a thrill.  Both father & son are good golfers.  Maybe you noticed Aaron's picture in our paper.  Sports section.

It's been very cool today with showers & the sun alternating in making an appearance.  I'm baking tomorrow, dinner rolls, coffee cake & short cake to go with fresh strawberries.  Also plan to make jam as I used the last jar, or I should say the last jar is in the fridge.   I won't make jam for awhile.  Barb says she wants to pick berries to freeze & she'll pick some for me.

Dale was saying he was working on a truck & it smelled so strong with men's cologne he could hardly stand it.  He wondered if they poured it on themselves.

Kim's birthday party was very nice.  When I made a pie instead of cake, I arranged some strawberries on cool whip & put birthday candles on them so she had candles to blow out.

We went to CVS today to get my meds & then to the Mall.  I went into Big Lots & noticed they had "Anna's ginger cookies".  I got a pkg. of the ginger ones & 1 pkg. of the almond ginger cookies.  The regular Swedish thin wafer cooky & they are as good as the ones you gave me one Thanksgiving & they were cheaper.  Not in a tin.  I love them & hope to get more if they aren't sold out.  They taste so good with a cup of coffee.

Then I went to the Dollar Store & got toilet paper & kleenex.  Kim gets a lot of her paper goods & cleaning supplies there.

Kim is painting her kitchen.  She wants to get all her chores out of the way & then enjoy the summer.  She'll play in a women's league Tues. A.M.'s.

Tonite I made tuna noodle casserole & Dale said it tasted pretty good.  Leftover strawberry pie for dessert.

What did the Pittsburgh Pirates do to deserve the present games.  3 at Yankee Stadium & now a weekend series in Boston.  They did have a couple of home runs in NYC.

Sheila said they enjoyed their cruise.  One interesting thing -- they had to sanitize their hands before going on board the ship & before going into restaurants.

Mon the 20th.  I'm enclosing a recipe from "Quick Cooking" (Greendale, Wi) for Brats & Beer muffins.  You could use some of your leftover brats.  I thought it looked interesting.  Recipe came from a lady in Texas.

Wed the 22nd.

I'm watching the Mets at Philly.  Just the 1st inning & no score.  We now can get Turner movies as of today.  What will be interesting.  And we also have the Discovery Health so I'll get my fill of hospital stories.

A cool spell came in today & it is really nice tonite.  I made a carrot cake this aft & it is so good.  I couldn't eat a whole cake in on aft!

Barb's garden is looking so good.  The flowers are blooming & healthy looking.  It was worth starting them from seed.

The Mets had a shaky 1st inning.  Phila had the bases loaded & no outs.  Thome was up & struck out & then the next one hit into a double play so I feel better now.  But Mets lost.

Thurs. pm the 23rd

I fixed chicken & rice for dinner, a favorite.  Yesterday it was cooler so I made a carrot cake.  This A.M. I made an apple pie.  Tomorrow the temps rise & more humidity -- no baking.  We've talked about going out to dinner & Kim said they like to go out Sun. evenings.  Barb said Nickel Inn would be nice & Kim said how about Sun nite.  So Sun. we'll go to Nickel Inn for a 6:30 reservation.  We like the ride going out thru Scandia.

I noticed your temps were in the 90s.  Hot, hot, hot.  Suppose it will come our way.

The new neighbors are moving in.

I'll start my letter with the bad news we will not be going to the Nelson reunion.  We all agree to this.

Yesterday we didn't go to Acock Inn for lunch -- they changed it to Cable Hollow Gold Course & it was a nice get together.  I had the fish fry & it was excellent.  Had a nice visit with them (gang).  Karen's (eldest Hollertz girl) son was with Anna & Warren & he is a nice boy..  9 years old -- only child.  Robbie.  He loves Legos so we stopped at KMart to see if they had some he wanted.  He found one .  He was explaining ti to me but it is something new I don't know about or didn't understand.

Learned a little more about the new pastors.  He has been out for 3 years & she finishes her training this month.  They want calls close together.

Called Gen last nite to wish her Happy Birthday   She had ha nice time with Millie & Linda. They took her shopping at Filene's & Gen got a light lube suit & other things on sale.

I'm watching golf on TV & I can see blue sky & fluffy clouds in Ill.

When I read your letters about trying to encourage the boys to study, etc. it makes me smile.  Then I say to myself, "Paul is getting back what he gave to me." !!!!  A taste of his own medicine!

Dale finally got to mow the lawn this aft.

I'll be awaiting the pictures of the front yard -- it sounds really nice.

Kim went to a garage sale yesterday & talked with the owner.  Some years ago they paid someone from N.Y. state $15,000 to update their yard.  When Larry saw it, he said the shrubbery is planted to close together.  Sure enough some bushes died & she called on Lar to take them out & to do some trimming.  Then she wanted Larry to mow their yard, but Lar refused.  He told her he mowed 2 lawns & stuck to doing it because they hired him when he just started his 2nd job.  He even told her he preferred not to do trimming anymore.  She was disappointed.  She said she wanted to be able to say "Larry Nelson does my yard upkeep." So I guess has had made a name for himself.

We're going to dinner tomorrow nite at Nickel Inn to celebrate Lar and Kim's birthdays.

Tiger Woods just teed off so the golf gets more interesting.  (Didn't turn out that way.)

Mon. A.M. the 16th

Kim & Lar drove to Nickel Inn in the Miata & Dale drove us in the Monte Carlo. He finished working on it, but he said it needs more fine tuning.  Barb didn't want to drive.  We enjoyed our meal.  Lar, Dale & I had Prime Rib & it was excellent.  Ki had chicken parmesan & Barb had stuffed cod.  Even Barb had dessert -- a choc. cheesecake & Lar, Dale & I had strawberry shortcake.  Kim was telling us about an incident concerning Larry.  On Sat. a group of "guys" get together for soccer scrimmage & it usually only lasts 1 hr.  Larry didn't come & Kim began to worry.  She was sure Lar had been hurt & was at the emergency room. She decided to go to the hosp. & check it out when in comes Lar.  They had decided to play 2 hours this time.

I think summer is arriving -- Yesterday was lovely & it sounds like we have a good week ahead.

This weekend coming up, the Yankees are at the Mets.  I hope the Mets have their playing shoes on for this series.  They took the series from the Angels.  It came on TV at 4 pm so we couldn't see the entire game but the Mets were ahead 6-0 when we left.  A young & promising rookie (Jose Reyes) hit his 1st grand slam.  That was exciting for Met fans!

After lunch we went to the Mall & then grocery shopping. Dale was late coming home for lunch & when I was ready to leave, I couldn't see Barb outside.  She was talking to the neighbor Dan N. (Conaway's) & aught up on the news.  The trees on our street are suppose to come down because they are diseased.  Ones in front of Dan's house are down & also at Johnson's old house.  The roots ruin the sidewalks & leaves fill the gutters.

Frank, across the st, gave up on his ex-wife who has already left the guy she left Frank for & Frank has started to date.

Dan's daughter graduated from M.I.T. this spring; broke their hearts by marrying against their wishes. They have come to accept it, think he is OK but they would have liked a wedding here.  They (Allison) want to move to Fla. so they can sail their sail boat.  She has the prospects of a job.  Dan didn't say much about the husband -- job, etc.

June 19. Wed.

Barb's body is still aching.  I think she thought she would be able to ride her bike sooner than she would be able to.  It cost her $78.00 to get her bike fixed.

Sun. I asked Kim what she'd like for her birthday menu   She said "anything" & I said "That's no help", so then she came up with hamburgers.  So that is what I'll have with pot. salad, fruit (cantaloupe & watermelon) U& hamb. fixings.  She likes meringue so tonite I made one in the pie pan & maybe make a custard & fruit to go into it.  Heated the oven to 450, turned it off when I put the meringue in the oven, leaving it there all night.  Hope it turns out OK.

Thurs the 19th

Rain overnight & more today.  Will we ever see summer?

Fri. A.M.  The furnace slicked on this A.M., temp 51.  I quickly turned it off.  NO sun as of 7:20 A.M. & it's cloudy.

Tuesday, August 27, 2002

Today would have been Edna's 86th birthday.

I mentioned to Dale that Andy wanted to be a blond.  Dale said "at least he didn't want to dye it red or blue."  Barb said that Lynn had Scott's hair highlighted & she likes it.  Guess I didn't keep a close eye on my children.  I can't remember you doing anything to your hair, as I don't remember.  Repeating myself.

After lunch I went to CVS for 2 prescriptions, returned 2 library books & cashed a check for next month's expenses.  Nice day for a walk.

Read a new (for me) author.  Hot Six by Janet Evanovich.  It was very different & I don't think I'll read any more of her books.  Also The Nightingale Legacy by Catherine Coulter.  That is more of the style I really like to read.

Bert is cold all the time but can't find a wool sweater.  Barb has some she knit she doesn't wear so she bro't one over to Bert & she paid Barb $25.00 for it.  She'd like Barb to knit her a white wool longer cardigan.  Barb found another bright navy cardigan she gave her.  She said she'd pay for it.

Last Thurs. Kim stopped over for coffee & a chat.  She asked if we'd like to go out for dinner Fri. nite.  I'm always ready to eat out.  We went to Nickel Inn.  I had the fish fry & lemon meringue pie.  Lar had lobster & steak.  We thought of Eddie & his love for lobster.  It is always crowded there & Kim & Larry knew a lot of people.  It is a popular place for Warrenites.  Kim & Barb had the fish fry & Dale had steak.  Lar & Dale also had dessert.

Someone is looking at Carey's house -- they have come down to $135,000 Lar said.  It's been 2 years on the market.  Mr. C told Lar he lost $100,000 on the stock market.  So have a lot of other people.

4 more days of August & I'm glad it's coming to an end.  No more Lynch TV ads!  Really overkill.  Mornings are darker now.  The summer flew by.

The teachers had special sessions Monday & Tuesday & tomorrow the kids go back to school.  At least it isn't hot & humid.

Back to blond hair -- Alex Keeney (Johnson's house) has colored his hair blond.  So has the sister who graduated from high school last June.  Alex starts Beaty now -- 5th grade.

I didn't get any library books today as I'm working on another puzzle with colored flowers so I sit a lot & study the colors & find a few matches.  It will come together in time & a little patience.

When Lar & Kim's friends in Pleasant Township sold their home Lar said to be sure & tell them he doesn't continue to tend their property.  The same when Carey's house sells.  He'd like to give up some of the trimming jobs he has -- the only way it will happen is, if they give up their homes.  Many are widows & they depend on Larry.

Did you notice my poor Mets finally won 2 games last week after losing 12 in a row.  I'm still a Met fan!

You'll have to send me a picture of the boys in their football gear or should I say uniforms.

Fri A.M.

Kim endured the first day with just one problem. An 8th grade girl didn't obey the dress code.  She got thru to the 8th period & Kim sent her to the office.  No other teacher cared to tell her.  That is the problem -- no one cares.  Kim has no gray period -- it's either black or white.  But she cares.  Oh yes she heard a 14 year old fellow, handsome, good student & athlete got a 20 year old gal pregnant this summer.  What was he thinking!  He wasn't.

Gen called.  All seems to be going OK.  She hopes to be able to get a car in the near future.  Poor John. I think they should take "the bull by the horns" & tell her she must see a Dr. & that they think she might have Altszimer's.  (I'll have to learn how to spell that.)  Or find out what the problem is & get medication.  They are afraid of her reaction.

In your letter you mentioned "mulligans" in connection to golf & I never heard that phrase.  Kim clued me in so I learned a new word!  I always thought it was a stew!!

I need to write to Millie, Gen & Darla.

Saturday, July 7, 2001

I'm on the porch with a cup of coffee & a freshly made roll & PB oatmeal c.c. cooky.  Have to sample my baking.  I'm awake early so I was up at 6 A.M., baked my rolls & cookies & made banana bread.  Then Barb & I went to the Mall, after I was showered & dressed & I returned a blouse at Bon Ton (didn't like how it looked ) & did a little shopping at KMart.  Now I'm taking the rest of the day off.  We are going to Nickel Inn tonite for Kim's birthday dinner.  It was put off when Lar got sick & they had plans for last weekend.

The store on rd & Conewango is now G.O.P headquarters & it is being remodeled.  Taken out the large window, filled in & now there are 4 smaller ones.  Entrance centers on 3rd & Conge--.  Improved the look of the bldg.

Careys put up a fence (long time ago) between their yard & the school yard.  A while ago they took it down.  Kim wanted it & Lar wouldn't ask for it.  So last Thurs. Kim did & Mr. Carey said "sure".  It's a picket fence & she wants to put it up by the greenhouse at the apt.  She's fixed up a little patio there.  But it entailed more work as Mr. C. had more stuff he wanted to get rid of & Kim's friend was having a garage sale today.  Yesterday aft. she was over & helped to assemble the stuff in their garage.  2 sewing machines, some exercise stuff & I don't know what else.  Kim said one of her friends would like a sewing machine.  They were here at 7:30 to put the stuff in Lar's truck.  I went over to give Lar a roll & cookies for a snack & I was in my nightie, housecoat & slippers.  Felt a little embarrassed but I wanted to finish my chores before a shower.  Kim said they have a lot more junk in the attic & I'm sure Lar will be called on to help get rid of it.

The Fall Penney's catalog came this week & I've been looking at it.  See a few things I might like but am in no hurry.  Seems like I remember you said you shopped at Target.  If it is possible, I'd love to go there.  Erie has one & Kim likes to shop there.  It seems like we go to the Mall & don't ever get to Target.

Yesterday & today are so beautiful.  Blue skies, fluffy white clouds & clear air.  My kind of summer day, & I'm enjoying taking it easy.

Barb is watering her plants & Mr. Carey asked her what she used to feed her plants.   Miracle Gro is the answer.  He said they look great & they do.  On the steps, on each side of the rails, she has dahlias & they are starting to bloom & look so great.  In the back yard she has lupine & they are beautiful.

I better water my hanging basket so more later.

I made a blueberry pie & Lar said it was good, only Kim makes better pies!  I said that's fine -- the wife comes first now.  Anyway I'm including the recipe in case you like blueberries.

I'm watching "mute" TV.  Cleveland vs. St. Louis.  Will root for Cleveland.  Can't stand all the controversy of the All Star game, managers, choices, etc.

Sun. aft.

Just finished making a Turkey salad for supper.  Whenever turkey breast is on sale, I get one.  Last week was cool so we had turkey Thurs. nite.  Fri Barb wanted pizza so we didn't have left overs.  Last nite we went out.  Barb, Lar & I had fish fry as it is available on Fri & Sat.  It was delicious.  Golden crust & nice white meat & it was a huge piece.  Dale had big size Prime Rib & he couldn't eat it all so Torey got leftovers.  Kim had broccoli fettuccine.  Nickel Inn & it was crowded with many large groups.  To get back to the leftover turkey -- was trying to plan a weekly menu & decided to use the turkey in a salad & still have some for sandwiches for Mon. lunch.

Soon strawberries are at an end but Barb picked 2 qts yesterday.  She likes to make a strawberry smoothie & Dale likes them on ice cream.

Kim said Mr. Carey had added more stuff to the collection.  Some went into a bag & sold very cheap.  Another bag & any leftovers went to the Salvation Army & it included moth eaten draperies.  She made about 50.00.

As soon as we got home last nite, about 9:20 pm, the TV went on as it was a nite Nascar race.  And Earnhardt Jr. wont it -- that was so nice as it was where his dad died.  I went to bed & didn't see the end which was a good deal.  It would be hard to get to sleep after all that emotion.

Rose Seeley is back at Warren Hosp. Transitional Care Unit.  I suppose for therapy & getting ready to go home.  She's had some tough times.

Saw this quote in the Buff. paper.  "I adore seafood, especially saltwater taffy."  Milton Berle.

Tues the 10th -- the day I clean my bedroom & the bathroom.  Now I'm cleaned up & ready to watch "Murder She Wrote" & will finish my letter.  It's a showery day but I hope to mail t his after 11 AM & also a card to Rose.

I have a 1000 pc. puzzle on the card table.  I'll ad a piece now & then while watching the All Star game in Seattle.  Watched the Home Run Derby last nite & was glad it was won by the N.L.  Hope they can win tonite.

Saturday, July 15, 2000

It's your big party day & looking at the Weather Channel it looks like you have a nice day.  Not with us -- it's raining but it isn't in Boston & I hope the rain stays away until the game is over as it's moving eastward.

Dave Blair was walking his dog & we were on the porch.  He looks like an old man with stooped shoulders & the start of a pot belly.  His step children are a throw back of the hippy.

Last week I was watching a TV program "How's That Made".  It showed how the frying pan was made at the factory at Onconomoc (I tho't I learned how to spell it) Oconomowoc.  Home & Garden TV & it was so interesting.  Then in the USA Today there was an article on the Roto Zip tool for installing drywall made in Cross Plains.  I think you mentioned C.P. in your letters -- maybe Andy played ball there.  How they had a fire but started over & are doing well.  Another interesting article.

And Barb got a book at the library "History Matters" by Gerda Lerner, prof. of History Emerita at U of W. Madison and Barb wondered if either you or JoAnna knew her.  Think she is very interested in women's rights - think that's what Barb said.  She had the Robinson-Edwards chair of whatever you call it.

This week Lynn & family are at Chautauqua as her sister & family from Fla. are here.  So Barb has the afternoons free this week.  We didn't go to Jamestown last Fri. as thunder showers were predicted.  We're planning to go next Wed.

Tomorrow Sun. nite, we're going to Nickel Inn for a 6:30 dinner.  We like to go there once during the summer to have a nice meal & to watch the hummingbirds -- they have feeders at each window.

Fri nite's game Mets vs. Boston was so exciting & tense at times but it turned out right as the Mets won.  It was 1 hr. late in starting due to a power outage & I stayed up to the end 11:30.  It's on Fox right now & on the N.Y. channel Sun. so we get to see 3 of the 4 games.  I'm sure Gen & Ed were rooting for Boston -- their team.  The Mets are -- I don't now what!  Not winning.

Mon the 17th.

Think I made a mistake in my city -- not Oconomowoc but Manitowoc where the frying pans are manufactured.

We had a nice dinner at Nickel Inn -- I had fish stuffed cod & it was good.  Even had dessert -- lemon meringue pie.   Dale had a fudge sundae & Lar had strawberry shortcake.  Barb & Kim resisted dessert.

The wedding Kim & Lar attended had the reception at the Conewango Club & the food wasn't good.  Some kind of a pasta dish that must have been overcooked.  Most of it was returned to the kitchen.  The wedding cake was a carrot cake -- unusual but most likely their favorite.

I made fudge today (just what my waistline needs) and it came out so good.  I like it on a coffee break.

Baseball isn't as interesting as it could be, esp. with the Mets losing so many games.  I bet Bobby won't be the manager next year.  I hope not.  I'm hoping for different teams to be in the World Series but I don't have much hope.

I found a recipe for Banana Zucchini Bread that I plan to try.  It's suppose to be cooler tomorrow so I might bake (tomorrow).

We had ants coming in the house.  Dale thought they were coming in by the back door & replaced some dead wood, cleaned it out good & then cemented.  Haven't seen any more ants.  He is currently replacing the glass in the garage windows.  They look nice.

Kim won't be going to Fla. to visit her sister.  Debbie is doing OK & goes back to work on Sat.  She has used her sick & vacation days & Kim doesn't want to visit when Debbie has to work.  Her sister understands.  They'll go next year.  Kim hopes she & Lar can have a couple of long weekends before school starts again.

Tuesday the 18th.

I never have any luck using zucchini in a recipe.  I made the Ban.-Zuc bread.  It doesn't look very good but the taste is OK.

We got groceries after lunch.  Was able to go earlier as Barb is free aft. this week.

Sunday, July 25, 1999

Dale has been on vacation this past week working on his El Camino, tanning in the backyard & taking it easy.  Tonite we're finishing it off by going out to dinner, 6 pm reservation at Nickel Inn, with Lar & Kim.  They got home late Thus. pm after a nice week in Fla. with her sister & family.

They have 6 cats but they were closed in their bedroom so they wouldn't bother Larry...his allergy.  But both Woody & Debbie are chain smokers & that bothered both Lar & Kim.  Now they have 2 dogs & a beagle is only 6 weeks old & not trained in any way.  So Kim started to train him to go outside to the bathroom.  She bot leashes for both dogs & each A.M. Lar, Kim, Eric & I can't remember the girl's name walked the dogs.  Then the 4 of them went roller blading.  Woody & Debbie had vacations so they went different places.

Torey was a basket case.  The 1st day he spent under Lar's truck.  He improved some but the last day, he carried his toy bunny all around & tried to bury it several times during the day.  Kim came over on Fri. & Torey was excited to see us so you can imagine how he acted when Lar & Kim came home.

One of my favorite authors is M. C. Beaton & detective Hamish McBeth.  The stories are so good & not too lengthy.  I'll enclose an item from the Sun. Buffalo paper.  Also another item I forgot to enclose the last time.   Cats & libraries.

As of today the Mets are 1/2 game behind Atlanta.  Wonder what it will be next letter.  But they've been playing very well.  Have a great infield & their new pitcher Dotel, only 23, is a great one.  So now my hopes are high for the wild card.

This A.M. the Conewango Clippers, a men's chorus, sang in church.  Ray Forstom preached for Gary & he is a chorus member.  They sang many well known hymns & were well received.

Wait til you walk down 2nd Ave toward town.  The nursing home between Water & East sts. have built a high fence by one side.  When I walked home on Fri. Jack Spenser (Meth. pastor) & a neighbor were taking about it.  Jack said how do you like our "stockade".  They got a permit but the neighbors didn't know anything about it & aren't very happy.  It must be 8' high.

I'm so happy we have A.C. as this has been a long hot summer so far.  We've kept it going several days running.  Last nite it cooled off so I turned it off & today it is better & less humid.  Suppose to be cooler on Tues. & I hope it's true so I can do some baking.  Did make zucchini bread & a coffee cake.  We have lots of zucchini from the garden & I want to try a choc. zucchini cake Kim has made & Lar says it's good.  Cucumbers are also ripe & tomotoes have formed & are growing.
