Got your letter today.  The  pictures are so cute o Boxer.  Eddie's legs look so long with his baseball outfit.  The picture of Andy in the candy jar is normal!

In the All Star game I rooted for the A.L.  Can you believe it.  Went to bed at 11 pm, so missed the last 3 innings, the best part of the game

This week Barb has been removing the paint from the windowed part of the porch.  She wants to paint it next week & have that section completed.  Mr. Carey told her she could just sand but she wanted to do a better job.  He also said the garage windows need to be painted.  We know that.

Dale is on vacation July 19-25.

We look forward to your visit & to having the boys here til the 15th.  I'm glad Renee is so much better.  A medical miracle  Wonderful what can be done today.

Barb noticed Hatch Patch has corn on the cob on sale.  We'll have to try it out.

Dale connected the news dishwasher.  It is so nice.

We had a nice time at Lar & Kim's on Sun. the 5th.  But Dad couldn't find a comfortable chair, etc. so we sort of ate & then left.  No bugs that nite so it was enjoyable sitting on the deck.  It is so nice   You'll enjoy sleeping there.

Any more mysterious doings at 1720 Mayflower Dr?  Sure is funny Maybe the house is haunted!!!!

Just noticed I never finished & sent the last letter I wrote.  So I'll send it & bring this to a close.

With love to all, even Boxer!

It's been a rainy, dull day.  This aft. we watched Mets vs. Yankees.  It was a good series, esp. the first game which the Mets won.  But they put up a good fight.  I'm sure they gave the Yankees a scare.  So I think the Mets made a good showing.  I like the idea of inter league play.

Yesterday the A.M. & aft. circles from church went out to lunch at Heritage House in Russell - they take groups of at least 10 & aren't open daily.  We had a nice time & enjoyed the food.

Interruption as Kim & Torey came over for awhile.  Lar was at camp due to the rain.  It's looking so nice - you'll be surprised when you see it.

We'll celebrate Kim's birthday on Sun.  She can't some on Thurs, as usual as she has to teach a 3 hr. course at the Red Cross Thurs. & again on Mon. nite - 6-9.  Her birthday is Sat. but they'll go out to dinner.  Just 2 sessions for the class.

Now I'm watching Braves vs. Toronto & Tor. is ahead so far.  They won.

Barb's been doing some weeding at the library.  Lar got - can't think of the word - like mulch & she put it around the shrubs & it's a great improvement.  Now she is starting in the basement - painting the floor & walls.  A cream color for the walls & a tan floor.  She's going by sections & has one section completed.  What an improvement.  It will take awhile - we have stuff we should get rid of.  Lucky you don't have a basement to collect junk!

Dale is keeping the outside looking nice.

Enjoyed your letter & hearing of your doings.  That is said about Renee but she sounds very cheerful & sure of the results.

Thurs.  It's a beautiful day.  I did a load of wash & hung it outside.  Dale put the hooks up & then the lines so I can dry sheets outside.

When I asked Kim what to serve for her birthday - (when I asked anyone for ideas I don't get much response) Kim suggested salads & to grill hamburgers.  We had steaks for Father's Day.  So I'll make pot. salad, Broccoli Salad & fruit salad.  Noticed Betty Crocker has a small angel food mix that makes 12 cupcakes or a loaf cake.  I'll try that so she can have some candles even tho she doesn't eat desserts - except M&M's.

Now it's Fri A.M.  Will be warmer & more humid today.  They came & checked the air cond. & all is in good order.  We'll probably use it today.

This letter will finally get mailed tomorrow - when I go over town.

Just watched a Western starring Audie Murphy.  Enjoyed it.

Yesterday the movers were here (Conaways) & Dad sat on the porch watching.  They (Harraras) are still here - at least the car is there & the back end opened so I suppose it's the last minute stuff before they take off to N. Dak.  Haven't heard a thing about the new neighbors.

Strawberries are late this year - none so far at Hatch Patch.  I need to make jam.  Usually I pick with Kim. They have raspberries you can pick.  Maybe I'll try that when they're ripe.

Gen was 75 June 13th & it was Fri.  They (Millie, Edith, John, Gen & Ed) went out to dinner & then back to Gen's for cake & ice cream.  Millie & Edith got a special cake decorated with "75".

Think I've "gabbed" enough.

Wednesday, February 3, 1988

It is snowing & we're suppose to get up to 6".  Last Sat & Sun we had a taste of spring - temp. in the hi 50s.  Just wore a suit to church on Sun.

This Fri. we go out with our pastor friends & we'll go to The Gristmill in Jamestown.  We should have a good meal & good time.

We are still enjoying the flowers you gave us.  It has been such a pretty centerpiece & we thank you so much.

Dale joined a C.D. disc club & got 5 discs yesterday.  Dad is thinking of joining a different one.

Levina K. is still in the hosp.  She had an operation for a growth in the rectum & is having trouble with the kidneys.  Chuck Decker had a heart attack & he was talking twice a day - to Perkins in the A.M. & to Mr. Donut in the aft!  He also smoked a pipe.  He's been retired for about a year.

I read 2 excellent books this past week.  The Velvet Jungle by Julie Ellis.  Too Much Too Soon by Jacqueline Briskin.

Larry is working on the kitchen & it's coming slowly.  Kim is dreaming of a hutch so she can get her dishes etc. out of boxes.  They've been looking.

Larry & I (changed my mind) were happy that Wn. [Washington] won - the rest rooted for Denver & got disgusted after the 2nd quarter.

I moved the desk from the kitchen into the living room - under the mirror on the west wall and it looks real nice.  Suppose you wonder why - well I ordered a trash compactor from Sears - & that is the only place to put it.  Where the desk was.  I've been thinking about one for some time & can afford to buy it so I did.

Still no oven.  If he doesn't come tomorrow we're calling someone else.  I made a mistake when I looked in the yellow pages & found his name.

Raymond Stein died - some time ago but never thought to mention it.

When you're here over the 4th you'll most likely see Renee.  Should be a nice visit for you with the reunion, etc.  Nice for us, too, to have you 3 home.

Sig & Geo. called last Sat. to wish us a belated Happy Anniv.  No special news.

Last Sat. we went to a 25th anniversary for Carol (Anderson) & Bob Winterburn.  They live in Jamestown & Dad married them.  We enjoyed ourselves.  It was at Holy Trinity Luth. Ch.

Do you ever watch Frank's Place on C.B.S.  We enjoy it .  Set in New Orleans.  It's coming on pretty soon so I'll say good by for now.
