It's a cloudy A.M. & I'm baking a crust for a peach pie.

Thanks for the recipe.  They sound good -- minus the garlic for me.  I have ground turkey & corn tortillas on my grocery list.  Am wondering if your chicken recipe could used canned milk in place of whipping cream.

That was some letter about things at the library.  You don't know what happened in the "real world".  My world is very small  Did you sign up for the computer course.

How are Jack & Boxer getting along.  I mentioned Kim's friend Nancy has a new cat.  It has cat's upside down illness.  Something to do with the ears & makes it want to be upside down.  they give the cat ear drop medication to heal.

Do you recall Lauri Heckler -- Jefferson St. -- she had a beauty shop.  Their house was for sale & finally sold so they could pay their back taxes.  They bot an old farm house out Pleasant Dr.

Just made a peach pie.  I found out that Kim makes her strawberry pie using strawberry jello in the filling.  I found a peach pie recipe using peach jello along with sugar, cornstarch & water.  After the last 3 ingredients are boiled clear you add the jello, cool a bit, add the fruit, pour into the shell.  And I have peach pie for dessert.

I just watched The Black Squadron on the History Channel & enjoyed it.

Tues. 7:40 A.M., July 30

I'm waiting for the freezer to be delivered the first thing this A.M. & I'm all set for it.  They called yesterday & asked if I would wait a day & I sad yes.  If they had a lot of deliveries scheduled it would probably be late aft. & my working hours are nil by then.

Kim stopped by.  They plan to start the garage at camp this fall & Kim asked if Dale would help & in return he could store his car free for the next 15 yrs.  They want everything ready when they make it their permanent home.  They will contact "Bones" Blair to see if he would sell them 100 feet of land so they can have more space for a double garage.  That is Kim's idea -- then they can place it even with the house.  Lar knows he should have the cement floor poured professionally in order to keep the small animals out of the garage.  Dale is willing to help.

Then Kim told us she was online to check out her hours as every 5 years they have to have 150 hours of extra work for their jobs -- workshops, etc.  She was interrupted by ads & the bottom one was porn for children.  She investigated & was so made & disgusted at what she saw.  She is ready to "junk" the computer but Lar needs it for his work -- bills, etc.  He told her she shouldn't have entered it.  But that's Kim -- we all say should have been a police woman.

We've had about 2" of needed & welcomed rain.  It is also very warm & humid.

Sunday I woke up to a cloudy, showery day & I was thinking of excuses not to go to church but then my conscience took over.  "You'd go to the Mall if Barb said "I'm going to the Mall", so I went to church & was glad I did.

Wed. last of July.

This A.M. I walked to the library carrying 3 books.  I told myself 3 are too many to carry even if one was smaller.  So what did I do but get 3 more books.  Also went to the bank, got the garbage ready & that's all I've done today.  It's very warm this aft. so I've been working on my puzzle & took a little nap.

Our new freezer is working & Lar took the old one on Tues. aft. after his regular job & before his extra job.

Turned the calendar to August & noticed Saturday is Ruth's birthday.  Good I had cards on hand so I got one ready & wrote a note & walked to Fifth to mail it.  Should have looked before I went over town.

I think Madison is having a Drum & Bugle competition & Betsy Moran's husband follows them so they will be in Madison.  Kim remembered the Farmer's Market, told Betsy they must go to it.  Her husband goes to it, wherever it is, every year.  I think it is yearly.

The Mets-Yankees aft. game isn't on TV available to us.  But tonite's game will be on ESPN2 so I'll get to watch it.  It wasn't  Hope the Mets win a game, preferably 2.

Hatch Patch has home grown corn on sale & it's on our menu tonite & strawberry shortcake.

Larry found some homes for sale up to $50,000.00 on the Internet.  One was interesting.  11 acres & a house that isn't very good for $26,000.  Off Jackson Run. Lar & Kim tried to find it as well as Dale but couldn't.  Probably away from the road.  But when Kim &, Dale also, called -- the answer?  Sold.  At least it gives Dale something to think about & a good way to invest.  And Lar is willing to help...remodeling.

Found 2 new authors:  Iris Johansen & Barbarar Delinsky & I like their books.  Fun to find new authors.

We've had a week of perfect weather but more humidity is predicted.  Have hardly used the A.C. this summer.

This is your busy week getting ready for your party.

Sounds like Eddie is doing great in baseball. Nice to be on a winning team.  And Andy is quite the pitcher.  Sounds like the teams have a lot of parent support & that is good.

We didn't get out for lunch this past week as Barb had to work every afternoon.  Next Fri aft she doesn't work so we're going to Jamestown.  I want to stop at Don Gage.  Dale stopped there & found a nice shower curtain.  More like material -- not plastic.  For the basement shower & it's really nice.  I'd like to find one for the bathroom.  And I'd like to stop at Brand Names for some glasses.  Hard to explain but they have a solution between glass sections that can be frozen & then will keep your dink cold.  It melts & can be refrozen.  A $1.00 store had them in plastic but the plastic cracked when you filled them & then leaked.  They were 1.00 ea.  Brand Names are more & come 4 to a pkg.

Mon the 10th.

It wasn't a good weekend for the Mets & their fans, but at lesat they won the last game & it was a shut out.  Full house for the Mets.

Still the showers come.  I'm hoping that next Sat. will be clear for your party.

Finished a Barb. Delinsky book this A.M. & the ending was so sad.  I couldn't help shedding a few tears.  Three Wishes.  Takes place in a small Vermont town.

Yesterday Dale went to Jamestown to look for an entertainment center for his TV & accessories.  He didn't find anything he liked so he plans to go to Erie & Oak Furniture Place.  Kim & Lar got their stools for camp there.  Dale has to wait until a free Sat. the 22nd.  They have a lot of wonderful furniture there from the ads, etc.  Kim & Lar recommend it.

Wed Kim plays in a Cancer Golf outing at the Country Club.  Friends belong & she usually plays with one of them.  She is also on a committee that sponsors a bike ride around the Dam.  Bikers come from surrounding states & they like to come because of the beauty of the area.

So your cat is a female.  At least the name is OK in today's world.  Women are now boxers!

All-star baseball game on Tues. but many of the stars are out with injuries.  Cal Ripkin will lose his attendance record.  Orel H. retired when L.A. decided they couldn't use him.  I suppose it's the ego that bro't them this far & it's hard to give up the glory.  So an injury does it.

Not much happening around here so I'll bring this to a close with love to all.

Saturday, May 16, 1998

I'll start a letter while your questions are still fresh in my mind.

The floral bouquet consisted of yellow lilies, lge. pink carnations & a deeper pink -- a flower I think are called "Pinks" a smaller type carnation with stock & greenery.  And sitting in it is a bird on a nest that is reusable.  I'll put it in the wreath in the D.R.  Also a "Happy Mothers Day" on a plastic piece.  Very pretty, altho it doesn't sound like the colors to together but they do.

Paul I find it hard to believe you are becoming fond of "Boxer".  But when you get a baby animal it makes a lot of difference.  Will you have it neutered as well as declawed.

We have the twin bed in the eating area & it looks O.K.  I think he'll be O.K. as he doesn't "roam" at nite - too hard to get around.

Lar called at noon to find what we had done.  He will be over after 5 to help carry the seats, table, etc. up to the attic.  I'll miss sitting at the table & watching. - Dale will miss the same at nite when he eats - around 9 pm.

Lar said they found a chair for Dad - can't remember the correct term, but it helps one get out of a chair.  That is one of the problems - no strength to lift himself up.  This lady said we could try it out & then decided on a price.  I'd prefer if she'd name the price she wants.

Dale didn't work today.  Washed his car & is in the process of putting the stereo system in this car - the one he took out of the old car.  Now he's on the way to Seaman's probably to find "stuff" for the Blazer.  He'll stop at the Youngsville Dairy Queen for a burger.  Says they are the best ever.  He found a door for the Blazer.

Barb worked around the yard this A.M. U& washed off the porch furniture so it's all set for us to sit out there.  We haven't gotten any flowers yet but I'm sure we'll get some during the week.  I'll need a red geranium for church the last Sun. of May.  Pentecost.  Members bring red ger- & they are planted outside during the week.  It looks nice to see the red flowers in the altar area.

The exchanges of 4 Marlins for 2 L.A. Dodgers was a surprise.  Sounds like it will go thru.

We were watching Cleveland vs. Texas & since Cleveland was ahead I switched to golf & noticed a Bob Friend was playing & doing well.  Said to Dad there was a pitcher with that name in Pittsburgh & then a note came on T.V. that he had been a pitcher with the Pirates.  So he has a 2nd career.  Encouraging to other athletes who are avid golfers.  Now it sounds like he is the son - he's only 33 so I guess that's true.  Must have missed something.

We got a letter this A.M. from Messiah Luth. stating they will be celebrating their 75th Anniv. in '99.  It will be a yearlong celebration & hoping we could come for the final weekend next spring.  Be nice but an impossible dream.  That's Auburn, Wn.

Sun A.M.   P.S.

I'm set for church but it's too early so I'll let you know how things are.  Last nite Lar & Dale got the lift chair to try out & it will be great.  It is one of the workers at the Crary Home.  Said it cost $1,000.00 & they tried to sell it for $500.00, then $250.00 & no takers.  So maybe it will be less then $250.00.    It is blue so it fits in.  Dad just has to push "up" to get out of the chair & down to sit.  He can just stand against it so that problem of lifting is over.  Has the leg rest, too.  Very nice.

The bed went well.  I got up at 6 A.M. to check, went back to bed til 7 & got him ready & we had breakfast.  But he isn't eating much at all.  I don't make large portions & still a lot get thrown out.

It is another lovely day.

Barb has an aching shoulder.  Too much lifting & working outside Sat.   She said she was weight lifting - why I don't know.  She saw the Dr., had another pap smear & it shows an irritation.  No insurance - an operation, hysterectomy (sp) would be the thing but they are trying other things - a shot to stop her period & heavy bleeding.  Maybe things will be better when she won't have Scott to deal with.  Good I'm not a "worrier".  Barb is good at that.
